Tucson-based content writer and social media producer Kim M. Bayne is wrapping up a project for the China National Traditional Orchestra of Beijing, a state-level ensemble administered by China's Ministry of Culture. She built and managed the orchestra’s social media presence for the U.S. premiere of “Rediscover Chinese Music,” a musical journey through China's history and culture.
While Kim has had ample experience in creating online content for business and technology, she didn’t hesitate when this unique opportunity arose. She knew her passion for music and culture, combined with her writing and digital skills, would transfer well.
“Rediscover Chinese Music” is a breathtaking event featuring musicians in traditional costumes playing traditional Chinese instruments, special lighting, multimedia backdrops, and moving scenery. The concert is directed by Wang Chaoge, one of China’s top directors and a co-director of the 2008 Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremony. The orchestra makes its U.S. debut at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, DC on December 11-13, 2015.
